Fond Memories in Circleville and Junction with my Grandparents.

On the way home from our trip we stopped along the way in Junction and Circleville where I used to spend the summer with my grandparents. Grandpa and Grandpa Mac lived in Junction and Grandpa and Grandma Wiltshire lived in Circleville. I loved to go stay in the summer and never wanted to come home. Grandpa Mac used to go check the mail and would take us to the general store to spend the money that Grandma gave us for treats.
The house doesn't look like it is getting the best of care, but then the house is very old. Grandpa built it. I have very fond memories in this house. There was a big comfortable chair by the windows on the south east corner, the sun always came in the window and it was fun to sit there and listen to my grandma mac wistle while she worked in the kitchen. She had a beautiful singing voice and she could wistle really pretty too. Mom says I can't remember, but I can remember grandma cooking on her old coal stove, I asked her one time how she knew how hot it was to bake her cake or grill her pancakes and she said that she just knew. The back rooms didn't have heat so when it was cold grandma would cover us in so many blankets that it was hard to move. In the morning she would put our clothes on the open oven door and warm them up before we put them on. Grandma would let us help her wash her clothes with the old wringer washer. We thought it was great fun to put the clothes through the wringer and see them come out flat. Then we would go out back and hang them on the line. So many more memories.
This used to be the courthouse in Junction, I have been inside when it was a courthouse. It is now an inn. I think I will have to check it out and maybe stay there someday. Very cool old building. This building used to be the post office. They had those cool old combination boxes like in Emery. The ladies that worked there sort of reminds me of Ann of Green Gables. It seems like you used to get your mail from the general store, but I can't remember, I will have to ask Mom and see if she remembers.
This is the house of my Great Grandpa & Grandma Wiltshire. Grandma always kept the yards so nice with beautiful flower beds. The house looked like a mansion to me in those days. We loved to explore in the attic, there were such cool trunks of stuff up there. The stairs were really steep and it was a little scary to go up there, but fun. We loved to go collect the eggs from the chickens. This is where Grandpa Oscar Wiltshire would milk the cows. I remember following grandpa around watching him feed the pigs and chickens.
This is Grandpa and Grandma Wiltshires old house, what great memories I have there. We used to go down to the basement where all the old formals were kept and we played dress up. There was a great big coal bin down there that they used to heat the house. Grandma made sure we always had projects, she helped us sew, knit, crochet and etc. Grandma also kept the yard very nice and she always had a flower garden on the east side of the house. I remember watching her work in her garden in the morning. She would take us with her to take lunch to grandpa in the fields. Grandma also took us to Parker Dam which was the swimming hole across from Butch Cassidy's family place. It was just a wide place in the river, but it was a fun place to swim for us city kids.
I miss those long summer days, walking to the grocery store, climbing hay stacks, riding grandpa's horse, playing in the ditches, riding the haycutter with Grandpa, and so much more. Ahhhhh, those were the days.

Engagement Pictures

Just before we were to take our engagement pictures Wyatt had his wisdom teeth taken out. (Who knows why he didn't wait a week). From the front he looked like a chipmonk so he turned to the side. Is that a groovey shirt he has on or what? That picture was taken down the basement at Grandpa and Grandma Mortensen's house in Granger, (now West Valley City). That dress belonged to Kathi. Us sisters used to share all our clothes. Kathi wore high platform shoes with the dress and I wore flats. When we all got married and each took our clothes,we didn't have a whole outfit anymore.

Wyatt did write me a love song and sing it to me for Christmas! Ahhhhh those were the days. :)
